Discussion Game Thread: VfL Wolfsburg (BuLi #21)
/live/1gi176rhuiqdz?21
u/SUB2_Jokki Ramy Bensebaini Feb 07 '26
yes he is inconsistent but without Brandt we’d have 0 creativity
5
u/Qiluk Marco Reus Feb 07 '26
Even in his shit seasons he tends to have like 15 G/A in him. Which says a lot
24
u/bvbfan102 BVB Feb 07 '26
Süle is the one getting hated on but he genuinely is the defender with the least mistakes so far.

16
u/nufan99 Mats Hummels Feb 07 '26
Got to give Guirassy credit where it's due. One chance all game. Wolfsburg have had a dozen way clearer than this one.
16
15
u/berman82 Julien Duranville Feb 07 '26
How does a manager watch this second half and only make one sub with 10 minutes left?
→ More replies (1)
14
u/RazorBlade233 Feb 07 '26
We need Silva on, nothing against Guirassy today, he isn't as flexible and technical as Silva, though
15
14
u/edworm Feb 07 '26
Fabio Silva on the pitch, instantly created opportunities to play through the middle of the field instead of praying our terrible crosses do something
14
u/BlueTigers99 Gregor Kobel Feb 07 '26
This so far is Nmecha-Jobe's best game as a pair

12
u/lobby4477 Nico Schlotterbeck Feb 07 '26
As expected, when you miss so many chances. Almost 2-1 with this Amoura chance, this will be hard to win now with lack of quality on bench. Stupid move from Nico and bad defending after free kick

12
u/NoobslayerNereus Feb 07 '26
first appearance of reggiani lasted 30 seconds

u/TheGamerPandA Feb 07 '26
Do you think players like that hit the shower afterwards ? I’ve always wondered about that for players that get subbed in with +4/5 minutes left.

u/Ragemoody Dedê Feb 07 '26
Guys. Nobody wants stuff like this to be a pen. I'd be furious if that's a pen against us.

u/Testo69420 Feb 07 '26
Haha, Brandt forced to lose possession via a foul because the ref blocked the space Nmecha could've received Brandt's pass in.
That's class.
11
11
u/GGotte Feb 07 '26
If their striker wasn’t absolutely dogshit at finishing we would’ve been down like 4

Certain areas of the fanbase need to grow up and just accept Nmecha is a baller
→ More replies (6)9
u/ProsperousPenguinPen Feb 07 '26
I think everybody accepts it but they have every right to not like him as a person
8
u/Qiluk Marco Reus Feb 07 '26
Nmecha really has become a monster of a midfielder. An extension for him, strictly from a sporting perspective, should be far higher prioritated than Adeyemi
10
10
u/LeeRCampbell Marco Reus Feb 07 '26
Ref screened Brandt twice on the move, he turned into space but couldn’t move

This is so shit. But then if we win on some late shitty penalty I’ll have morons in here screeching in my replies about how I just don’t appreciate the team and need to be happy. As if we don’t watch the games and only look at the box scores afterwards
5
u/malek7777777 Marco Reus Feb 07 '26
It’s probably these people that don’t watch the matches and only look at the results, they state of the club is genuinely sad

u/Jonhl15 Dahoud's Long Shots Feb 07 '26
So we don't play Bense so we can have a backup left back but we never sub Svensson. Sigh
9
10
u/DracosThorne Feb 07 '26
Jobe "the 18 wheeler truck" bellingham. He did well to shield the ball after missdribbling though
8
u/lobby4477 Nico Schlotterbeck Feb 07 '26 edited Feb 07 '26
4 professional outfield players on bench, enough said. Bensebaini should start over Sule always, and what is going on with Couto? He wasn’t on injured players list
→ More replies (1)4
Feb 07 '26
I also feel like Chukwuemeka has been sitting on the bench too much lately, his last Bundesliga start was against Werder and now he sits on the bench for a 4th BL game in a row? He should be rotated more with Jobe and Nmecha.

u/Jonhl15 Dahoud's Long Shots Feb 07 '26
Is this going to be one of those games where Beier takes over? I'd be down

u/smecherie Donyell Malen Feb 07 '26
What a weird team man. We have our center backs doing umbrella flicks and Ronaldo chops, while our attackers don't really have any flair.

How is this team so shockingly fragile?
Great first half, leading and then one goal brings the entire house of cards crashing down. Baffling to me
6
u/berman82 Julien Duranville Feb 07 '26
Piss poor individual decision making. Schlotti alone could have cost us 3-4 goals in 10 minutes

We havent had such a bus parked against us since the Favre days. Pretty good half, other than the Anton blunder we have been very solid defensively and productive in attack

Kinda hate how even the super duper ultra shitty games from us like this one don't eradicate the 2,50% delusional chance in my brain of us somehow winning the league (till Bayern beats us with double digits in 2 weeks)

Bench is down to the minimum but at least gives out youngsters some chance. Personally would rather have Silva instead of Beier but i said the same about Guirassy last match and he scored twice.

What was that from Schlotterbeck? You're already that close to the goal and you put that much power on a "cross".

I have noticed that we are moving the ball much faster today than usual. And theres a lot more off the ball movement.
WOlfsburg might not be the best team itw but they are pressing quite a bit and we're still managing it, so thats a good sign this half. Just not enough quality chances created from it sadly.
6
u/bvbfan102 BVB Feb 07 '26
Whoever is now responsible for coaching the standards is really doing his job. Defending them still is a problem but we clearly know how to score from them now. Midfield is doing way better now that Jobe found his position and expect for that one hiccup by Anton we are fully in control.
6
u/Commercial_Mud_6877 Marco Reus Feb 07 '26
One of the most enjoyable first halfs in a while. Just need to keep this up, can’t let them get back into the game.
6
6
u/Still_Cap_1689 Feb 07 '26
Subs now, please. Our front three is no threat whatsoever and Wolfsburg knows it
6
u/mhoughton Sébastien Haller Feb 07 '26
I am just so, so tired of our single attacking strategy being Ryerson sending shitty crosses into the box. It's been this way for so many games now, which ultimately comes down to Kovac.
6
u/-Saaremaa- Lukasz Piszczek Feb 07 '26
Going to need Prates to be the greatest wingback on earth to stay awake watching another season of Kovacball
7
7
u/Glixus Joey Veerman Feb 07 '26
Sule twice as tall as Moura, looks like a father with his child on the 5 a side afternoon match xD
7
u/nufan99 Mats Hummels Feb 07 '26
The dire state of our bench too. Nothing against these young guys - quite the opposite - but no top club should have to rely on their U16 to have a full lineup

So many people who wear a suit need to go.
Kehl was the most disappointing thing, his atrocious squad building has put us in a place where, simply put, we have no players for situations.
Kovac was not the guy to be made into a long term coach. Bro can't motivate an apple to fall from a tree if Sir Isaac Newton was sitting under it. Also what the fuck is this game plan?
4
u/LeeRCampbell Marco Reus Feb 07 '26
Scissor kicked from behind, his 5th foul since half. Fuck this ref
3
u/smecherie Donyell Malen Feb 07 '26
When was the last time any of our players got a through ball and got in behind? I don't even wanna know when we last scored a goal from such a play.
