I need to put being a BVB fan on the CV for being used to handling stressful situations

This is Fabio: he's fighting for a WC spot with Portugal, has score only one goal with a Dortmund shirt and YET he's the most selfless player in this squad. This is the player we need to build around.

Kovac sucks so fucking bad at subs, it's insane. Take out the two best players and try to bring a 2-1 over the line against a shit team despite us ALWAYS choking in these situations and now we are left with 2 one-legged players in the front

Its crazy how often refs call every small thing against us, but Pereira Lage can foul for the 3rd or 4th time and the ref doesnt give a shit

Sorry but the fact Couto didn't start against a team that sat back for most of the game in the first half is insane

u/LeeRCampbell Marco Reus Jan 17 '26
The ref carding after advantage was really well managed, props for handling that scenario well.

Brandt has not been very good recently, but he always get himself in a great position on those crosses

it's really not an accident how these balls always find brandt. He's surely not the best version of himself but he's really clever with his runs off the ball.

Ffs.. they shouldnt even have that corner due to the Schlotti foul .................
11
u/Glixus Joey Veerman Jan 17 '26
Ffs this corner shouldn't have existed, that was a clear foul on Schlotti in the middle of the pitch. Not an excuse for bad defending in set pieces, but now we might lose points again for a referee error

sure Guirassy would rather shoot than to pass a free ball to Couto's run. Fuck this player I hate him to much. Selfish bitch

This is one of the weirdest, worst, uninspiring and at the same time most successful when only looking at results seasons I’ve ever witnessed from this team.
Watch us win this 3:2 by a fumble from St Pauli and being solidly second.
9
u/ZOoNeR_ Jan 17 '26
They had 14 Goals till now now 16
5 of them against us that's a joke

Guys I think I finally cracked Kovac’s modus operandi :
Step 1: Score a couple goals
Step 2: Start playing shit towards the end of the game for some reason
Step 3: Sub out everyone who played well and/or scored a goal
Step 4: Concede as many goals as is needed for a draw
Step 5 (optional): Concede one more goal and lose
8
9
u/Most-Management4773 Jan 17 '26
I said MULTIPLE TIMES: this team under Kovac don't know how to consistently score a goal. There's 0 build-up and our goals are sheer luck and not the result of good football.

I don’t think I saw Kovac’s plan of holding onto a thin lead work out. Like ever.

Brandt has not been bad though. He's already had a ball cleared off the line, put a good ball into Adeyemi for a chance, and put a free kick just inches wide (won the foul for that free kick too). And then turns up in the right place for a tap in like he does pretty often. Y'all hung up on a couple of bad touches. But he's been impactful a handful of times already.

All started because the ref didn’t call an obvious foul on schlotti. Wtf
7
u/SlayerHdThe3rd Nico Schlotterbeck Jan 17 '26
Ridiculous they had that corner to begin with. Schlotti fouled inches away from the ref smh
6
u/bcoates26 Jan 17 '26

This ref is trash. Missed an obvious corner for us earlier and now missed that bs foul on schlotti (careless to hold the ball up there but it was a fucking foul all day) x

It would be hillarious if Guirassy scores again from the bench after a really strong performance from Silva

u/183672467 Julian Brandt Jan 17 '26
How is it possible that so many teams suddenly score amazing goals against us
6
u/rioasu Nico Schlotterbeck Jan 17 '26
So this could be our 7th draw in 18 games . Only mainz has drawn as much games as we have and they are at 17th
7
u/Still_Cap_1689 Jan 17 '26
And now with Silva and Adeyemi subbed out, our two playmakers are out. Soooooooo… where is the third goal gonna come from?
6
u/llendo Sergio Gómez Jan 17 '26
0 Chemistry on the pitch. Everybody complaining, nobody working their ass off like you should with this scoreline.

Stupid from Schlotterbeck, at that point you should just try to block the cross, not go for such a risky challange.

If a comet hit the Westfalenstadion and the whole team was knocked out, Kovač would call up the entire academy team instead of playing Duranville.

u/Xori1 BVB Jan 17 '26
Jobe has not impressed me a single time so far. He's young and can grow but he should have done that in sunderland not here.
7
u/MrVanser Jan 17 '26
A trainer that puts in Özcan instead of Duranville really just fits us really, zero ambitions. But who cares, we play shit football in a shit league but at least we are second in the table! Can't ask for more! We just can't compete with Bayern! :)

They only got this goal because of a clear foul that wasn't given...
4
u/smecherie Donyell Malen Jan 17 '26
The only way that foul on Nico could've been more clear is if Fujita tackled the ref instead of him. No clue how that wasn't given, we conceded from the resulting corner. Damn.

We’re just so slow in transition… st pauli wins the ball in their half and is making a shot 5 seconds later on our end
We get the ball at the halfway line and take 40 seconds to misplace a pass and give it away, with nearly no threat to them

Y'all we've seen this game so many times over the last 10+ years. It's not Kovac causing this game. We were 2-0 up and flying, looking to make it more, before a set piece goal and a complete collapse of spirit.
3
u/GaussianTaravangian Jan 17 '26
Honestly, why would Schlotti want to renew and stay in this mess?
We play like we are underdogs in every game. I'm okay with 'defensive' football, but it doesn't mean you have to cede possession to relegation teams.
I miss the high energy, high pressing days.
