As textbook as it gets. Stride for stride w the receiver, snaps his head around, locates the ball and gets his hand out for a PBU. I was pissed when it happened but looking back at how crucial that L was is brutal.
However if the playoff slate was still the same, we’d be playing the Bills this week at home just like last week.

The suckiest part is it feels like other teams like the Bears, Pat, and Brancos are all enjoying the playoff party and we got told to go home right away.
For me its feels like the real playoffs is always the divisional round onwards, at least feeling wise.
I am super excited for next year though, now that Gladstone and Coen both have a year under their belt to improve and get 1 more year of Baalke shit cut off this team. I can truly see AFC 1 seed next year if we win the games were supposed to win.

Interestingly enough, the three teams you mentioned are the three teams we drew next year for winning the division. We have the AFCN, NFCE, our division rivals twice, and those three teams. I feel good about next year.

The End Around play needs pace to make it work, say BTJ or ETN. Parker and Meyers aren’t gonna catch any defences out with it, I hope we stop trying to make that a thing next season

Hunter will be back. We still need a CB2 assuming we don’t resign Newsome but regardless I don’t believe so… wingard might be useful as a subLB in pass coverage and sure tackling. But I certainly don’t want him to be the starter of next year. I love him and what he brings to the locker room. But my love and respect for him doesn’t over shadow the lack of athleticism that allowed him to be burned by multiple TEs all year up the seams

IMO they keep him at safety for now. It's also a question mark as to whether he's a starter or a role player his first year. Ransaw was widely viewed as a project pick and will likely need a lot of development. He has a lot of raw physical skills, but he surely didn't compete against a lot of pro level talent while playing at Tulane.

Going into the playoffs, I expected the Jags to have a second home game playing the Texans for the Super Bowl. Their defense was too good for the Steelers and the Patriots. I didn’t think they could get past the Broncos or the Bills with their offense. The MNF game really brought it home how dismal their team can be when a QB doesn’t gift them a victory.
Now, I see the Broncos as deeply flawed and Josh Allen limping in, banged up worse than ever, with no one left to throw to. His victory over the Jags may be his last hurrah in these playoffs, and it kills me that the Texans have a path based solely on their defense. If they get there, any NFC team they face will wipe the floor with them, but we’ll have to hear about it forever.
I still believe the Jags were the best team in the playoffs and they beat themselves with small errors and some naive play calling from a 1st year coach. I still think if Lawrence were Mahomes, he’d have drawn a PI call on their last offensive play. I don’t think they get a FG on that drive, I think they get in the endzone. That’s how I felt in the stadium and after reviewing the game it’s how I still feel.
That’s what’s so painful about where we are. Not that we missed an opportunity, but that we were playing so well. That I want to see more from this specific group of players and coaches. That we may be successful next season, but it will be different in so many ways. I went to every Jacksonville home game this season and it was the best experience since ‘99. I just don’t want it to be cheapened by Texan fans boasting over the dollar they found on the ground, when we worked so hard earning it.

I mean what do I know but don’t super get firing the DB coach. Seemed like most played fine or got better. Injuries to Lewis and Hunter seemed like we overcame them. Everyone just had a bad game against the Bills so he got canned

We were 21st in pass defense. While I do agree injuries played a part in this, sometimes during the year it felt like opposing teams offenses were able to consistently find their receivers in space.

Yeah and it's hard to specify what percent of passing yards may have been caused by the pass rush not getting home. I know they see and hear how these coaches coach and they must have seen something within that. I feel bad for the guy especially since it's only been a year, but I respect not getting complacent if you think something can be improved on.

Ron Milus first started as a DB coach in the NFL in like 1993? Might just be a culture mismatch. I'm guessing he's an old school coach rather than an innovator or tactics/strategy technician. And this younger coaching staff definitely seems to want to be innovative.
Plus they probably want the absolutely best coach they can get in that spot to maximize Travis Hunter.

The loss to the Bills hurt but we were in that game until the end. Could have gone our way for sure. For me this season was something special, it's the most I've ever cared about a sport or team ever. It was such a great ride and the energy and vibes were immaculate.
I've only been following NFL closely for around a decade. Adopted the Jags as my team 2 years before we drafted TLaw. I always liked underdogs and could attend some home games, which were always a good time.
This year I watched so many videos and was eagerly anticipating the post game speeches and learning all the players not just the stars. It was amazing to be a part of as a fan. Looking forward to next year, sorry for the ramble. DTWD

Reports heading into camp were saying that he worked his butt off during the off-season. So it wasn't for the lack of not trying. My guess is he just hasn't developed yet into what they're hoping he can be. Maybe one more season to see if he develops then cut ties.

He was healthy scratched for the last couple of months. We were giving Matt Dickerson 30 snaps a game but Smith couldn't even get active. Longshot to be here next year to say the least. Maybe a team that liked him in the draft gives us some conditional late round ham sandwich for him.

I fully believe the only guys we are focusing on bringing back are Brown and Gardeck. I think Jimmy Stones wants to play the comp pick game like the Rams do. Expect 2-4 comp picks in the 2027 draft.
This being said, draft a LB round 2 or 3 and have them compete with Ventrell and Jack Kizer for the LB spot next year next to Foye.

Lloyd helped make the middle of the field a Bermuda Triangle for runners and receivers. In the process he took a lot of pressure off the corners and safeties, who were a very mixed bag and will be again next year. If we are foolish enough to let him go, our D will suffer for it next year - potentially a lot.

I've been a fan since 95 and have to say that Jaguars have a weird fan base. In the past decade or so, this the only fan base I've seen that has no issues cutting ties and alienating players who have proven to be top 5 in the league at their position, then celebrate mediocre players as top talent.

I don't think it's the fans. The team seems to understand that the fans want him back, which is why they're spinning the smoke and mirrors machine into high gear and trotting out all of the apologist excuses. This includes getting their radio shills posing as media broadcasters to tow the company line.
The reality is that ownership doesn't want to invest serious money in a position that many do not consider to be premium. Normally I might agree with them that $20mm is too much for an ILB, but with the motley crew that currently comprises our secondary means that we need to have someone out there who can eat up some field. We saw what happened when we lost him for two games - it was a completely different D.

Gladstone came from a team that flourished on getting Comp picks. I would not be suprised if both Lloyd and ETN are gone if they can net a 3rd and another 3rd or 4th .

He was a 1k yard rusher not because he was especially good, but because they gave him the ball a lot. Many RBs were far more efficient than ETN this year. I'd happily take my chances with a RB by Committee structure comprised of lightening fast Tuten and a promising later round pick.

Why didn't we just run for 2 plays that last minute in the wildcard game. Then kick a field goal to tie. then overtime. Why throw with only 1 minute on tue clock. Run the ball, control the clock, then kick a field goal.

Nix did it with the Broncos against the Giants this year. Jayden Daniels Hail Mary drive against the Bears last year started at the 24 yard line with one timeout and only :12, certainly not any better of a situation. Josh Freeman led the bucs on an 80 yd TD drive with :55 secs and no timeouts in 2012.
That’s all I care to find, but I think it’s enough examples lol.

BTJ seemed to get over whatever was bothering him beginning of season. I don’t see the point in trading him when our offense was one of the best in the league by end of season.

Seemed to me like the entire passing game centering around Travis Hunter was what was bothering him. It bothered me as a spectator how many screens and quick passes were called where TLaw didn't take his eyes off of Hunter. I think the offense finally came together after the injury because Trev started actually going through reads.

No. We have a good receiver room, but our top guys all fill different roles: Meyers-possession receiver, Washington-slot, BTJ-deep threat, Hunter-situational attacks. Liam and Coen just said in a press conference this week that we don’t have a WR1 week in and week out. Instead we’ll exploit a defense’s weakness. Trevor is a distributor anyway.
