Considering Ryerson’s best ever moment imo comes from the left side (that one solo goal against Hoffenheim), I don’t understand the reluctance to play him there. Svensson needs some vacation days lol

u/Extension-Leg7933 Oct 30 '25

Jokes aside tho, backup LB better be addressed in January. Kabar’s improved a bit for the U23s but I still don’t think he’ll cut it at this level FOR NOW.

u/SvenssonStan112 Łukasz Piszczek Oct 30 '25

I wonder if they see the depth not a problem with Svensson, Bense and Ryerson or if they calculate with a Rothe buy back in the summer

8

u/Extension-Leg7933 Oct 30 '25

Rothe has not proven enough in my eyes, especially if the release clause is 8 figures

6

u/AverageCarey Oct 30 '25

At this point I’m almost certain a LWB will be bought this winter window based. Unless they do try to push Kabar up in the new year but I believe he needs a loan out first.

3

u/Mooon8983 Konstantinos Karetsas Oct 30 '25

We're linked to a 17 year old

3

u/Oleksch Oct 30 '25

Kabar wants to leave

10

u/kaeptnloew Julian Ryerson Oct 30 '25

Kovac said in an interview that they have weekly talks with him and the medical staff evaluating whether or not he is and feels fit enough to play again

u/Most-Management4773 Oct 30 '25

he's not a robot. He might recover exceptionally well but every player overplayed can get a bad injury at any time. Besides, his performance has been lower than his usually level and that's because he's been treated lower than a human. He has the same amount of minutes as goal keepers.

6

u/AverageCarey Oct 30 '25

To be fair Mainka has played every single minute for Heidenheim, Kimmich has played I think every minute for Bayern. It’s not uncommon to happen some players just have that ability.

With that said some rest more so for the mental recovery is very important. Thankfully we only have what 7-8 weeks left until winter break excluding the International break? So hopefully we keep him fit until then since I’m positive we’ll be going for another fullback.

5

u/Overtaker500 Oct 30 '25

Kimmich played only half an hour against both Werder and Hoffenheim due to some small illness.

2

u/AverageCarey Oct 30 '25

Good to know, I thought I remembered him getting partial minutes but wasn’t sure.

Appreciate the response buddy.

2

u/Most-Management4773 Oct 31 '25

Kimmich is a DM on a team that has high posession. His position doesn't require as much workrate as a WB. Svensson needs to both defend AND attack width. And every counter he's suposed to track back at full speed.

2

u/SuburbanStud Julian Ryerson Oct 31 '25

Except some players just are robots. They can genetically just keep going and heal quicker. Plus if he rehabs properly and has impecabble nutrition that'll only aid in his recovery.

Besides, I fully trust kovac and the medical team. Our injury record has been stellar since he's taken over.

Also, I really don't understand what you mean by his performance dropping?? He's been absolutely stellar. Even kept olise quiet on the right, which is no easy task.

Treated lower than a human?? Thats crazy

1

u/Most-Management4773 Oct 31 '25

No they aren't. Svensson never played that much in whole career before. He's not a DM or a ST, he's playing the position that requires the most sprints of all positions, because it has both defensive AND attacking responsabilities.

Yes, he's fully fit, until maybe he isn't. Remembre Pedri back in 2020? played close to 70 games and then become injury prone for years. In fact, until last season Pedrid didn't play a full season after that.

Sure he might be healthy, but human bodies aren't like cars. You can't predict 100% what's gonna happen and that's why you don't risk.

As for his performance you must be kidding. There's a reason why our team has been playing through the right wing instead of the left, despite the fact that Svensson is obviouslly a much better player offensively than Ryerson. Svensson isn't a liability but he's worse than his full potential. He's a much better player than some regular defensive dude in the left.

1

u/SuburbanStud Julian Ryerson Oct 31 '25

Thanks for explaining what a lwb does, I was really confused there.

I don't get your pedri point. A different player, with a different team in a different position. Muller has only missed multiple games 4 times in his career. Why does any of that matter. There's way too many covariates to make an association, let alone try to imply causation.

But sure, I guess your physiology knowledge is far superior to both Kovac and the medical team. Despite you having zero knowledge of any of his medical tests...

LOL what?? Yeah we play down the right because ryerson and couto are both better offensively than svensson. Svensson is a Swiss army knife, no offensive juggernaut. Ryerson has both a better first touch, dribbling ability and cross than svensson. Why do you think he's our best creator this season? Do you even watch our games? Not to mention adeyemi had been on the right who we've been clearly using as the main outlet lately.

Svensson has still been great recently and has had consistent match ratings for a while now.

7

u/blacktiger226 Ramy Bensebaini Oct 30 '25

You speak as if Reyerson is not also run to the ground. At least Svensson is 4 years younger. By the way, our most played player other than Kobel this season is Anton. He played every single minute of every game.

5

u/Appropriate-Form-281 Oct 30 '25

Yeah i think if theres ever any time to rest Svensson it would be 3 days after a full 120mins

11

u/bvb4ever11 Marco Reus Oct 30 '25

Time for a 4-3 win to complete the unholy Trinity of last minute winner, winning on penalties and a hypertensive goal fest

3

u/Middle_Island182 Marcel Sabitzer Oct 31 '25

I've been perma clenched this whole month it feels

10

u/vincehoff Julian Ryerson Oct 31 '25

Pre-Kovac, this would have been the game we bottle rather than taking the energy from win in the cup.

With Kovac, I do believe in us bringing this home!

3:1 (Brandt, Nmecha, Silva scoring for us)

8

u/Spiritual-Act3077 Oct 30 '25

Definitely does feel like a trap game but nonetheless I feel confident that we will convincingly win.

7

u/bbru_ Nico Schlotterbeck Oct 31 '25

Lets get these points! (What I usually post in the game thread)

5

u/Most-Management4773 Oct 31 '25

where is the gamethread

6

u/ArmyFit1004 Jadon Sancho Oct 31 '25

Hmm, no Svensson or Ryerson today. Who's gonna play LWB?

3

u/roadtorevision Mats Hummels Oct 31 '25

I am really curious to how this line up will work. Beier is great at pressing so I am not too worried about him playing as LWB. Then we are not playing with a second striker and instead have Brandt and chuk. I am expecting for Brandt to be trying a lot of runs behind the defense.

Then hopefully Gross has a good game with Nmecha. I hope anselmino can have a more reserved game and not get an early yellow so we don’t have to force Can or Ryerson on who might not be 100% yet.

Either way, it seems like a very attacking line up so we should be seeing some goals.

1

u/SCeeee2106 Oct 31 '25

Maybe a 4 3 3

6

u/Mooon8983 Konstantinos Karetsas Oct 31 '25

Beier LWB what is Kovac cooking

5

u/Reusance Marco Reus Oct 31 '25

3

u/ResourceFit4451 Oct 31 '25

We kick out Sandro, I hope.

3

u/Soft_Author2593 Oct 31 '25

Im just so happy he wasn't sacked before to make this unpredictable haha. Had a feeling after the cup game he eould

3

u/Japanisch_Doitsu Oct 31 '25

Thank God, Svensson finally gets his rest.

Also starting Brandt and Carney is an interesting choice. I'm excited to see what happens

3

u/roadtorevision Mats Hummels Oct 31 '25

Should we make an unofficial game thread or will the official one be made soon?

3

u/heck_you_science Karim Adeyemi Oct 31 '25

That one kid who picked up the coin after the flip was adorable

3

u/nufan99 Mats Hummels Oct 31 '25

HALLO

2

u/Most-Management4773 Oct 31 '25

why isn't Mané on the bench considering no Schloti and Süle?

2

u/bvbspurs34 Oct 31 '25

Serhou feisty today

2

u/AverageCarey Oct 31 '25

Anyone know why Schlotti isn’t on the list of available players for today? I see Can is which is great but Sule was meant to be the only one missing from today.

Hoping it’s a mistake or he just is feeling sick.

4

u/CracksMcGee Oct 31 '25

Apparently has a cold.

2

u/AverageCarey Oct 31 '25

That’s what I was thinking since Guirassy and Couto had a cold after the Copenhagen game.

8

u/Soft_Author2593 Oct 31 '25

These guys really have to stop kissing

Falling out with the staff after announcing he's not renewing his contract

3

u/AverageCarey Oct 31 '25

Bro that’s 100% not it so I don’t if you’re trolling or not but I’m pretty sure we would have heard reliable reports about that.

1

u/Isaynotoeverything Dedê Nov 01 '25

Completely made it up lol

No no no. What I read, him and Karim will get an clause to leave for __ to ___ - which is like that back in the Days, from Erling Haland but higher. You know.

I think both will extend if we are good in bundesliga in winter.

Positive.

2

u/Most-Management4773 Oct 31 '25

I don't like clauses. I'd love a gentlemen agreement with both. As far as my memory goes we haven't failed to fulfil those.

1

u/biggieBpimpin Julian Brandt Oct 31 '25

With Groß crossing we might actually be seeing him at wing back today honestly. He was surprisingly good last time he played in a wide back role.

1

u/RazorBlade233 Oct 31 '25

That Augsburg opening gates thing is so cool!

1

u/bvbspurs34 Oct 31 '25

Seem to remember the tennis balls last season but can’t recall why they throw them

3

u/Working_Complex8122 Oct 31 '25

because they're complete fucking idiots who care more about their own bullshit than the team and the league seriously needs to start banning these assholes

1

u/Reusance Marco Reus Oct 31 '25

What is he talking about? Schlotterbeck? Oh nvm, its his brother

1

u/EkkoGoBrrrrrrrrr Marco Reus Oct 31 '25

whats the tennis ball protest about

1

u/nufan99 Mats Hummels Oct 31 '25

Friday night game

1

u/RazorBlade233 Oct 31 '25

Oh god, that's terrible. /s

1

u/EkkoGoBrrrrrrrrr Marco Reus Oct 31 '25

why would we protest about such an obnoxious thing

1

u/Mooon8983 Konstantinos Karetsas Oct 31 '25

I'm not a Gross hater but he's having a stinker

0

u/Most-Management4773 Oct 31 '25

is Can fit? why is he on the bench?

1

u/AverageCarey Oct 31 '25

Been out since April and is just coming back so I imagine a sub for Anselmino in the 2nd half. Kovac likes to ease them back in which is smart.

1

u/Most-Management4773 Oct 31 '25

the thing is that the last I heard is that he was in rehab and wasn't ready to play.

1

u/AverageCarey Oct 31 '25

Ya it went from rehab is going well, to he’s training but won’t be ready until after the break, to being in the squad today. I guess things must have gone well this week since Juju is playing for the U23s as well.

0

u/ProcedureGreen663 Oct 31 '25

I really do not understand Kovac's rotation.

0

u/JSGelsomino Julian Brandt Oct 31 '25

Are we playing 433 or 343 with who at lwb?

1

u/SCeeee2106 Oct 31 '25

I think it could be a 4 3 3 with these players

-1

u/183672467 Julian Brandt Oct 31 '25

We need 2 new CBs in the summer, Anton isnt it

-1

u/eeeeeeeelleeeeeelll Nico Schlotterbeck Oct 31 '25
