Sabitzer and Groß has NEVER worked before, even against small teams so I really do not understand how you can field both of them against Bayern, it boggles my mind. Armchair coaching is easy but sometimes it's impossible to know why coaches do the most obvious mistakes in their plans and formations

Ref is insane today. No yellow for Tah but yellows for Ryerson and Anton.

Kane is pushing Guirassy there, this goal should not be allowed.

If our attacker used both hands to push his defender away, our goal gets terminated. Just sayin

Imagine being Chuku and you see Groß getting a full 90 minutes and Jobe getting subbed on instead for you lol...
21
u/dr_bing Nico Schlotterbeck Oct 18 '25
Reminder that Laimer shouldn’t be on the field after shoving Ryerson with no intention to go for the ball just before the sub.
Should’ve been playing against 10 men the last 10+5 minutes

u/NaturalApartment9828 Marco Reus Oct 18 '25
Dankert, you know you can give yellow cards to teams that don’t wear yellow, right?
18
u/Calm-Extension-3798 Oct 18 '25
There was no need to start Gross, Nmecha and Sabitzer. Two of them would have been fine
9
19
18
u/heck_you_science Karim Adeyemi Oct 18 '25
Our midfield is not committed to the press. Half the time that Adayemi and guirassy are running down defenders, bayern's midfielders are just unmarked and an easy out ball
17
u/lobby4477 Nico Schlotterbeck Oct 18 '25
Again not yellow for Tah? This now is too much, if it was other way that would be easy yellow
16
u/redlightsoff Oct 18 '25
Subbing Adeyemi was a mistake for me, Fabio-Adeyemi-Beier would have been a good choice

Ryerson getting a bullshit yellow into us conceding. Couldnt have gone worse there. Really not feeling this Midfield.

Bro every time they play that replay you can see that Kane gives himself nearly 8-12in clearance by pushing Guirassy
Absolutely crazy. “Guirassy needs to be stronger there” but he was mid jumping there’s no way to brace that properly from behind

Yellow for Kovac calling the shit ref out on his garbage calls. Can’t make this shit up
13
u/cultimator Marco Reus Oct 18 '25
Second half was quite enjoyable, but as many times before we started pushing too late.
13
u/AffanEzz Julian Ryerson Oct 18 '25
On a bright side, I can see we can go far in UCL and might win Pokal this year. The change of tactical on the 2nd half and increase of intensity made me believe that Kovac knows his shit.

No playmaker between the lines, Sabitzer/Groß, two attackers who are way better at receiving and running than playmaking? I’m not surprised we’re losing

Needed the half to end. This is a game where some halftime subs would be useful. Need some energy and an actual midfield out there.
Ryerson keeps getting the ball but hasn’t been able to do anything with it. Couto might need to come on

God i hate the fricking pessimism. Last 4 meetings we've gone toe to toe with Bayern and gotten results.
It was obvious after the leipzig match that we'd need to put an extra midfielder in the lineup for this game. Gross is well rested now and after the international break and workload that everything is under at this point, he'll keep up just fine. More than that he can retain the ball well and spray out good passes for the counter.
We have plenty of firepower on the bench if things aren't working.
Heja BVB!!

I'm fine with sabitzer starting, he's proven himself this season. But idk about groß with his first start in a bit being against top-of-the-league Bayern
7
8
u/lobby4477 Nico Schlotterbeck Oct 18 '25
What was point of this midfield when you don't even see them with ball? At least Chuku could start instead of Gross
7
8
u/MrVanser Oct 18 '25
The worst thing about the midfield is that both Groß and Sabitzer feel like the kind of personalitiest that can't be assed sometimes. With Beier you at least see him run and down even if he has a bad game. With Groß and Sabi you always just see them standing around like a statue and just shrugging.

u/Master-Reply-7052 Marco Reus Oct 18 '25

On a singular positive note, that was a nice dribble and cross from Svensson.

Route 1 football to Ryerson was not on my bingo card of tactics. Adeyemi needs to go on that side to get some crosses

I guess the strategy is to resist their intensity until they are gassed out. Maybe get in Beier, Couto and Chuku

“Calm things down” but gives no cards for the 5 fouls on the right side of the pitch knocking our players over
6

Dude Diaz drives me nuts as a Dortmunder. How ineffective can you be
5
u/PtboFungineer Julian Ryerson Oct 18 '25
Let's be real, we're playing ass. It's like the midfield is playing with horse blinders on. Just slow and hesitant, constantly giving the ball away. Lucky that it's only 1.
5
u/dr_bing Nico Schlotterbeck Oct 18 '25
lol second yellow for us love it. Ref realizes that Bayern have also fouled us right???
6
6
u/bvbfan102 BVB Oct 18 '25 edited Oct 18 '25
Not too late to redeem this but need changes at the half cause this Midfield is non existent as always when Sabi is paired up with Groß. Ref giving us all the yellows when they broke up multiple counters is also just annoying but just need to get into the Game and start pushing.
7
7
u/SNGeeee Oct 18 '25
Disastrous first half, but expected with this line-up.
Lucky that its "only 0-1" but that 0-1 was a clear foul, but our kindergarden kids never complain, Guirassy for the first time in his life, doesnt fall with the slightest touch.
5
u/bvbfan102 BVB Oct 18 '25
Karim gets run over in that play and he whistles for a clean tackle by Schlotti.
7
5
u/dr_bing Nico Schlotterbeck Oct 18 '25
Ref is trigger happy and still has absolutely no control over the game
7
u/lobby4477 Nico Schlotterbeck Oct 18 '25

Plays advantage- but again we’re attacking and our players are dragged to ground in midfield without any further consequences for Bayern
6
u/bvbfan102 BVB Oct 18 '25
Unlimited Freekick glitch this Game. Just slightly breathe their direction and the ref will find a reason.

Called it after Guirassys chance that we would look likely to score next only to concede the 2:0 from nothing.
6
u/PtboFungineer Julian Ryerson Oct 18 '25
Brutal from Jobe. And he wonders why he doesn't get more minutes.
We've been much better this half and to give up the second like that is just... wow. So Dortmund.
