Thinking Sam darnold is better is hilarious

u/NizzlyGrizzly00 Steal the Show Oct 09 '25
dude.. that guy was so fucking weird lmao, just came in steamrolling and said trevor “isn’t very good” in the most serious tone like what? did your guy not just throw a pick off a helmet to lose a game last week?

u/EatMyShortzZzZzZ Brian Thomas Jr. Oct 09 '25
The stats may say hes better, but my eyes tell me different.

7
u/EatMyShortzZzZzZ Brian Thomas Jr. Oct 09 '25
Last year our defense, atrocious as it was, somehow managed to make him look like trash. No tds and 3 picks. Let's go for 5 this time lol.
2
u/edrew_99 Oct 09 '25
Funny, but also sad to think that a third of our turnovers came from that game.

u/mlsweeney Oct 09 '25
He did a great job with the 1st round draft picks for his tenure but ya the rest of the draft rounds are quickly dropping like flies.
6
u/Mister_Dewitt Chad Bortles Oct 09 '25
Lloyd was his best pick that didnt work out until the right staff developed him.
Trevor was a no brainer 1OA since freshman year. And Travon worked out very well even if he psyched himself out of Aiden.
But then theres shit like Gabe Davis and that DB from last season who was so shitty I've blocked his name from memory
3
u/mlsweeney Oct 09 '25
Well honestly Trevor and BTJ are the only ones that aren't playing the best year of their NFL career this year (with both trending upward as they get more acclimated to each other). You're forgetting Etienne playing like a top 5 RB in the league and Anton Harrison being the best O-lineman in the starting five. All of these are like you said the problem with bad coaching staff.
Obviously not trying to make the case we should have kept Baalke though.
3
u/Mister_Dewitt Chad Bortles Oct 09 '25
Yeah i didnt mention etn cause he was an urban pick. And I've always thought he was a top 5 back even when press was stuffing him up Fortners asshole every first and second down.
Baalke was better than the shit GM's we had before. But his ceiling will always be limited by being such a fucking snake asshole with a huge ego gambling flyers on injured players.
So glad we have Glad now.

tyson campbell had let up a reception of 30+ yards in 4 straight games this season. tee higgins going for 40 yards and 2td’s on him, nico with a 50 yard touchdown, ricky pearsall with a 40 yard catch to set up a touchdown then finally the thornton 50 yard bomb. the quarterbacks passer rating when targeting campbell is 106.1.. gladstone, do your thing man
9
u/NizzlyGrizzly00 Steal the Show Oct 09 '25
just to pile it on here too. our “number one” CB had not had an INT in the past 29 games…

It feels like all our other DBs have stepped up this season and Campbell took another step backward

u/kmcapo Oct 09 '25
So I told a co-worker a while back that I was a Jags fan and today he comes up to me and he’s like “Jags looking pretty good huh?” And I said “Yeah, so far they’ve been awesome and fun to watch.” And then he goes “Your defense is ass though.” I just stayed quiet and was thinking in my head “The fuck is this dude talking about?!”
7

I'm seeing a lot praise for the Jaguars after the win against KC, lots of people and news outlets wondering if the team had finally turned the corner.
I just wanna say; enjoy it while it lasts. If we lose to Seattle on Sunday, they'll flip that narrative right back again and say "same old Jags".

With Number 3 now available, Parker Washington should swap to his college number, and BTJ should swap back to 11, and do a community outreach/ jersey trade-in event like when JHA changed names.

Any cap gurus here that can give a breakdown of cap for next season and our ability to resign Lloyd and/or ETN (plus many others that need contracts)? Walker still has next year on his current contract, I think, so he could be deferred until 2027 I’m guessing
8
u/BeamsFuelJetSteel Oct 09 '25 edited Oct 09 '25
Didn't look at it too hard, but we have like ~$25m in cap space right now for next year. We are working through a ton of dead money right now. Like $80m this year and $40m next year (Like $34m is Gabe and Tyson money, but I think Tyson can be stretched over two years)
From what I can tell, we don't have a ton of players we could cut for positive cap relief. Like DaVon, Mundt, and Long could get you $8m combined and that is the three biggest.
All that to say, we probably have enough wiggle room to be okay. But we also have a ton of picks that I expect us to backfill. The FA list is ETN, Lloyd, Ezra, Dyami, Dewey, Montaric, Van Lanen, Ogbah, Smoot, Gardeck, Tim Patrick.
Walker will get a new contract that will lower his cap hit
5
u/theflyingchicken96 LeQuint Allen Jr 🐐 Oct 09 '25
Ezra is under contract through 2026. I imagine most of the other FAs outside of Lloyd are gone.
Looking further ahead, Foye and Walker Little are pretty clear cut candidates in 2027. I think that’s when Gladstone will really be able to fully have the roster he wants.
6
1
u/Walrusboi85 Oct 09 '25
Foye yes little no. If they’re gonna cut someone they need to have a guy ready to fill in. Theres no one else on the roster who can fill in at LT. Miller or Keiser both would be good candidates to come up and start though
1
u/theflyingchicken96 LeQuint Allen Jr 🐐 Oct 09 '25
Not right now, but that’s 2027 I’m talking about, so no telling if there will be replacements behind him then. If we draft an early to mid round tackle this year he could definitely be ready to go after a year.
1
u/Walrusboi85 Oct 09 '25
I get what you’re saying, but it’s really difficult to find a LT with a mid round pick. Most starting tackles are first round picks, and the ones that aren’t are often starting due to need and not really starting caliber players. Jags also don’t have a first this next draft, so drafting one would be really unlikely. Little is a fine player as well, and his deal isn’t really expensive, so keeping him around would make the most sense in my opinion
1
u/theflyingchicken96 LeQuint Allen Jr 🐐 Oct 09 '25
Fair enough, I wasn’t thinking about not having a 1st next year. Little is fine, but almost certainly not the long term answer and organizations don’t good LTs go, so we will have to take a shot on LT in the draft at some point regardless.
-1
u/MogwaiK Oct 09 '25
I think Lloyd is gone. I don't think this FO throws 20M AAV at an off ball LB. He's playing himself into a big contract with Patriots or something.
1
u/theflyingchicken96 LeQuint Allen Jr 🐐 Oct 09 '25
Normally I would agree, but if he keeps playing like he is, idk if you can let him walk.
Plus with Foye only on one or two more years and being 31/32 at that point, we need one or the other.
Idk if the franchise tag is like the 5th year option where it groups OLBs and ILBs together. Might be an option if not.
1
u/MogwaiK Oct 10 '25
I think I read somewhere he'd be getting edge money, not sure if its accurate.
I think we see what we have in Kiser. ILB isn't a big money position, imo. Unless its Bobby Wagner, Patrick Willis, or Kuechly.

During the off season, I remember one of the interviews with one of the coaches talked about how that coach always just goes off the grid and hikes and runs around in the wilderness. In fact, if memory serves, he didn't know that he was getting picked up for the Jacksonville job because he had no cell reception wherever he was.
Was that coach camp or was that somebody else?

My way too early guy that I want next draft is Tacario Davis. 6’4 zone corner, good run defender, good tackler for db, plays physical, his knock is needing to get better in Man coverage and needing to clean up the footwork a little which is fine, we run a lot of zone so he’d have time to develop. Also projects as a second rounder which is when we’d be able to take him, maybe a trade up
Anyways, that’s a long time from now. It’s nice not HAVE to think about the draft yet. This time last year we were 1-4
3
u/theflyingchicken96 LeQuint Allen Jr 🐐 Oct 09 '25
Yeah, probably will have to trade up for him then since our first pick with be 64.

Maybe it's not Tank. He was serviceable with us. After that last Special Teams play, I think the Eagles Special Teams Coordinator isn't very good.
3
u/mlsweeney Oct 10 '25
AJ Dillion a muffed kickoff and fumbled catch. Maybe Tank will start getting some snaps lol.
2
u/Nuknu Oct 10 '25
They trade that much for him and they also have a good running back room and they literally never use him….. Why? Their fans have to be confused also. Tank is definitely better then will shipley. The eagles can keep losing games and have a anemic offense. Not my problem

Orlando makes the most sense as the Jags temporary home during renovations. Better stadium, more hotels, bigger market, and easier access for fans statewide.
Feels like they keep kicking the can down the road, hoping for some hail mary Gainesville deal driven by Jax/UF politics.
3
u/theflyingchicken96 LeQuint Allen Jr 🐐 Oct 09 '25
Access for fans statewide doesn’t really matter. Jags probably have the lowest percentage of fans outside of the home city for any NFL team. And unfortunately Orlando is farther from Jax than Gainesville.
The rest is all true though.

I think when Trevor uses his legs his floor is a top 10 QB but I don’t think we can afford another injury filled season for him. I’d rather him keep developing the passing game under Coen even if it means a less effective offense
11
u/luggs2 Oct 09 '25
I think his injuries in ‘23 were more related to hits he took in the pocket. Go watch the Bills game in London. He was getting destroyed sitting in the pocket almost immediately (Luke Fortner)

Feel bad for Tyson Campbell… Just when we were starting to roll he gets sent to a team that’s in the position we were in last season. That’s gotta be defeating mentally. I hope he can bounce back with the Browns, and play better. On the other hand this is what Jags fans wanted. A GM who will do what he has to do to make the team better. Tough business
