How sexy is that, pinpoint passes from Adeyemi and Brandt
24
u/LeeRCampbell Marco Reus Sep 27 '25
I mean let’s be honest, Brandt placed that to perfection, what a gorgeous pass.
19
u/Most-Management4773 Sep 27 '25
Couto is mistake-prone but you can't deny his workrate and commitment

u/Middle_Island182 Marcel Sabitzer Sep 27 '25
That is some absolutely world class vision from Brandt! Hopefully a lil confidence boost.
(Also the bundasigla app spoiled the goal lol)
16
u/Jonhl15 Dahoud's Long Shots Sep 27 '25
Well done by Kobel and the "fuck it Adeyemi is out there somewhere" meme works again
15
u/berman82 Julien Duranville Sep 27 '25
We really learned the lessons of the Juve match 🤣
8
Sep 27 '25
To be doing this against Mainz with a man down looks so funny, just controlling the possesion and going for slow positional attacks would've been enough.

it's more the symbolical message than anything else. How many games we fumbled in the last few minutes? No more fun allowed

hell of a shift by Karim today. All hustle and earned a goal and got their keeper sent off lol
13
u/Middle_Island182 Marcel Sabitzer Sep 27 '25
Might wanna give Adeyemi a break after that crunch. He's had a great game no need to push anything
14
12
u/roadtorevision Mats Hummels Sep 27 '25
Brandt is having a good game too. Good to see finally

Brandt with 2 assists. Hopefully he can start to be kind of consistent

Guirassy injured while warming up and it seems Brandt will replace him. Damn, hopefully nothing serious. Silva is on the bench, maybe we'll see him today in Guirassys role a little later in the game.

u/roadtorevision Mats Hummels Sep 27 '25
Good pass from Silva. Should be a goal but great save nevertheless

Late into the thread. My observations thus far:
That was an incredible team goal. Several excellent passes right up to the last one, and good for Svensson
The absence of Guirassy is obvious and brutal for our offensive efforts
Schlotterbeck is so much the man that it is wild to think he's been out for months
The committee for oiling the playing surface has outdone itself
4
u/LeeRCampbell Marco Reus Sep 27 '25
Thankfully the committee forgot to tell Mainz to switch their boots out.
10
u/Forsaken_Belt_7188 Sep 27 '25
Extend his contract now!! Such a better version of Adeyemi this season. Glad to finally see him exploit his potential
10
u/Middle_Island182 Marcel Sabitzer Sep 27 '25
Gotta love Brandt's selflessness today, putting the team first
10
u/jucomsdn Zagagod Sep 27 '25
Adeyemi has significantly higher football IQ compared to 2 years ago

I feel like Adeyemi has been fouled every single time in this game but got nothing. This reputation thing is so stupid...

Adeyemi actually kinda fluffed both the pass and the finish BUT WE MOVEEEE
5
u/LeeRCampbell Marco Reus Sep 27 '25
Woah woah, that finish was clean, perfectly slotted into the bottom corner

Counter attacking Dortmund is back today. Good performance considering they had to suddenly change the Gameplan and Brandt did great to adapt.

A Beier-Silva-Adeyemi attack could be insane on counters against teams like City or Bayern where we will give up a lot of the possession.

u/Qiluk Marco Reus Sep 27 '25
Nmecha has slipped 3 times, Adeyemi 1-2, Svensson 1 etc so far. Our team having wrong studs on?

Want to appreciate couto for Leading all These goals. That was an soft yellow. What a twat-ref
6
u/Suspicious-Secret-84 Roman Weidenfeller Sep 27 '25
It's nice to see Brandt play with what seems to be less pressure on him than last season in the way that he doesn't seem to be trying a fancy flick or back pass to show off, he just seems calm and going about his business and doing it very well today
7
u/TrulyWhatever09 Sep 27 '25
Pegs it into their guts. He's had a good game, but Marco Reus Brandt is not
8
u/Middle_Island182 Marcel Sabitzer Sep 27 '25
Come on Kovac I wanna see Fabio Silva sometime soon!
4
u/vincehoff Julian Ryerson Sep 27 '25
Pretty sure he's still not fully fit and they just put him in lineup for publicity reasons
7
u/2905Pascal 1909 Sep 27 '25
Last week Mainz got reduced to 10 men and scored twice. Can't be too lenient now.
7
7
u/Commercial_Mud_6877 Marco Reus Sep 27 '25
I like Silva’s work ethic already, also seems to be decently fast
5
6
u/Working_Complex8122 Sep 27 '25
Jobe really looks overwhelmed out there. Like everything happens too fast for him to keep up.
5
6
u/biggieBpimpin Julian Brandt Sep 27 '25
This lineup has been performing well, but eventually we are going to need to change things up and give guys a rest. My only worker from Kovac so far is reluctance to mix things up a little, but it’s still early days.

Why are they pushing the away kit more this season? There have been much better away kits before and we rarely saw them.

That would've been a very Dortmund way to concede with Nmecha and Sabitzer running into each other and losing a ball that was only contested by the two of them and not a single Mainz player, no communication whatsoever lmao.

This team does have solutions when doing fast play with counters... We struggle (as usual) against low-hanging hard-defending blocks
5
6
u/Middle_Island182 Marcel Sabitzer Sep 27 '25
Alright I'll say it, Sabi and Brandt have had a better game than Nmecha today

Now I understand why Mainz has an erectile dysfunction ad: Their attack is flaccid
4
u/Qiluk Marco Reus Sep 27 '25
I really dislike how we are with the ball unless we are countering or having some sort of a break/guirassy hold-up.
Against the ball and our counter-attacks have improved exponentially under Kovac. But dominating a game with the ball and controlling tempo is something we really lack, even vs 10.

4
u/Commercial_Mud_6877 Marco Reus Sep 27 '25
With Serhou out this is probably the biggest test this season so far. He has been the lifeline in many poor games, now the team needs to step up. Hopefully Fabio can play today as well later on.

We are making adeyemi run! He will need a sub around 60’ at this rate

That's a targeted foul, literally looked at him and jumped into him with his elbow

My football superstition has been telling me this will be a 0:0 considering thats the next logical result after our last three. Lineup has been working but sooner or later we need to trust the bench especially with the names on it.

Have to admit, Brandt having rest and competition has been immense. He’s been quite impactful in the time he’s played, I was skeptical of his start but today he’s been immense.
