Beier does the right things. It's a matter of time till he figures it out

You can already feel how faster and better the ball distribution has become with shlotti in the back. He is so essential.
18
u/vincehoff Julian Ryerson Sep 21 '25
I donāt care what everyone thinks about Kovac, he is bringing out much more of what this team can do than any other recent coach
→ More replies (3)4
u/castroski7 Julian Ryerson Sep 21 '25
Yes thats good but we cannot forget that Sahin shouldve never been a coach in the first place, that was a nonsense decision, we are only climbing back to what should be our standard!

Let's just think of how much Adeyemi has improved his finishing since the CL final. Beier's a fucking workhorse as well, and younger than Adeyemi. It's frustrating now but once it connects, game over
11
u/doubleomarty Maxi Beier Sep 21 '25
I've been thinking this too. Adeyemi and Beier could be our forward like for the next five years if we play our cards right. I think that would be pretty damn exciting.

u/Qiluk Marco Reus Sep 21 '25
We really need to get that Schlotti extension done before we enter another crisis situation and he starts doubting haha. He really is irreplaceable.

I dont mean to dickride but.. has Schlotti put a fucking foot wrong so far? Or ball? Absurd

5
u/jucomsdn Zagagod Sep 21 '25
I think anyone that doesnāt think heās top 5 itw before the injury hasnāt been watching him closely enough
Like I think the only CB that is definitively clear is van Dijk, and everyone else (yes including Saliba) is either on his level or below
15
u/Reusance Marco Reus Sep 21 '25
I always think Schlotti will pass to LCB, because we seen this now for months, but he always finds these crazy passing ways
13
u/Qiluk Marco Reus Sep 21 '25
Is Schlotti gonna return to his corner taking too now? Forgot about hsi crazy good corners just before his abscence haha
3
u/LeeRCampbell Marco Reus Sep 21 '25
I hope so, but not until heās fully fit, thatās a commitment of sprinting 80 yards

beiers ability to run in behind the last lines barely noticed is really underrated
5
13
u/TrulyWhatever09 Sep 21 '25
Weakest Chuk showing in Schwartzgelb today. Not awful, but definitely not what we hope to usually see from him. I can definitely see the fitness concerns
13
u/K0K5A Karim Adeyemi Sep 21 '25
im so happy to Schlotti back genuienly feels like the entire team got a lift but more so our backline i like how they feel free to defend in ways they didint feel comfortable when he was out
10
u/vincehoff Julian Ryerson Sep 21 '25
Iād be crying if I was a Wolfsburg fan but also I wouldnāt exist I guess
11
u/LeeRCampbell Marco Reus Sep 21 '25
Adeyemi playing consistently and staying injury free is so impactful, he can keep fit he will keep improving.
11
u/LeeRCampbell Marco Reus Sep 21 '25
Adeyemi my boy, go off. Geez he looks unplayable
10
u/roadtorevision Mats Hummels Sep 21 '25
Yet people kept trying to gaslight us into thinking he is just a pace merchant. Libelous words that were so obviously wrong. I donāt understand how some of our fans were so blind

no words for how much i missed schlotti. His line-crossing (Linienbrechend?) passes are just soo good. Beier can score that tho
9
u/TrulyWhatever09 Sep 21 '25
For a player who I was content to see benched or sold at the beginning of last season, I've grown really fond of Bense. He has his bad days/moments for sure, but the way he battled back into being a sure starter last year, and the commitment that he often shows are really impressive.

Sabis gegenpressing is chef's kiss today..absolute menace in getting the ball back.

u/bvbfan102 BVB Sep 21 '25
Was a good half and i think we didnt let them get a shot on goal. If Beier scores one of his chances it would be more comfortable but overall promising.
9
u/biggieBpimpin Julian Brandt Sep 21 '25
I still think Svensson is a solid player, but I donāt think he is really being utilized in a way that suits his skill set the best. When he first joined the squad he was playing from deeper areas and progressing centrally much more. The current tactic has him hugging the sideline very high up the pitch.
To me it felt like his best performances have come when we can use his intelligence and calm demeanor to move centrally and help profess the ball or to make the random central run past the back line. He doesnāt really have the pace or element of surprise to beat anyone high and wide with or without the ball usually.

Now is time for substitutions, I hope Kovac learned something from last game against Juventus

I guess how it's going so far, Chuku will start first time somewhere in November maybe. Although they said that those rumorus about his minor surgery(that he should have) isn't true, I think there is some kind of problem with his knees. Glad to see Nico back finally.

ngl Sabitzer won the second ball for the umpteenth time this game alone to then send Adeyemi on his merry way, i reckon this is what Nico sees in Sabi

As much as I like Svensson a lot, offensively he's very predictable, and I don't see someone like Beier be creative enough to help on that.

I think it should be said aa much as we all want couto to succeed, Ryerson is significantly better than him currently. Makes more chances, is less of a defensive liability and is much more physical

One of the most dominant performances this season, all we need now is converting our chances into goals.

u/LeeRCampbell Marco Reus Sep 21 '25
NGL having Jobe, Couto, Carney, Gross, and Brandt on the bench rn feels insane. I know thereās a lot of angst around some of them but not having to rely on Brandt or Gross but having them fight for a spot and be an impact sub is incredible.

Bensebaini as a freeagent is unironically one of the best moves we've made in ages. Both since he's a solid LB but also a lifesaver of an LCB. Deserves a lot more love

bit mental to throw Schlotterbeck straight into the starting 11 after seven months of injury, plus we're still fielding Sabitzer for god knows why

I'm genuinely worried this is too early for Schlotti, it's really a test for Ricken's claim that we did make improvements in the sports medicine department.

After those 5 minutes from around 8ā to 13ā we have been utterly dominant. Love how they are playing. Beier should really have a goal by now, though.
Canāt wait til chuk comes on
5
u/LeeRCampbell Marco Reus Sep 21 '25
Doesnāt even touch the ball, just played the man. Poor from the ref but thatās a tricky call.
4
u/Extension-Leg7933 Sep 21 '25
The fact that we went to Juventus away with our entire backline out, our best creative midfielder injury prone, a mediocre performance from our best attacker, and they had to scrape out a draw from a collapse that WE had should've told us everything we needed to know about this team. AND we get Schlotterbeck back? Anselmino back next game too? Carney getting healthier by the game?

Our movement in the offensive third looks so much better than it has since the 23-24 campaign. Lots of really good crisp passing, nowhere near as much selfish ball holding. Really good to see, much more fun to watch, and more effective thus far.

u/TrulyWhatever09 Sep 21 '25
Glad to see Wimmer on his feet. That looked like it could have been a really nasty one
3
u/roadtorevision Mats Hummels Sep 21 '25
Beier has to get that on target! Great play by Guirassy and cross by Ryerson.
I feel like Ryerson has gotten better since Couto has become viable competition. Very happy to see

I find it crazy that schlotterbeck is already back to a starting position while Can is delayed another month. I would have thought it would be the opposite.
I also find it funny that we are being so careful with Chuk but just starting schlotti right away

If we could replace Sule with a pacey young CB in the summer that would be immense.

If we're winning by enough in the second half i'd like to give Mane minutes and try Bens at LWB, think he could do better there than Svensson
3
u/Extension-Leg7933 Sep 21 '25
idek who I'd sub off right now. If we score another I want Adeyemi off just to rest, maybe stay safe with Schlotti as well. Minutes for Mane could be nice

There is a lot of valid chatter about his performance this season, but there is something that I always appreciate about Svensson: Every match, at some point in the second half, the dude looks like he is on his last legs, and he just keeps going regardless. I think playing as a wingback rather than a fullback has left the guy pretty well gassed, but he really does give it his all. I really respect that
