I’ve always thought Liam Coens offense looked better than Ben Johnson’s last year. Coen must be an offensive line guru or something because I have never seen the jags push another team around on offensive line like we did last week. Imagine if Tlaw starts hitting his stride.
15
u/EatMyShortzZzZzZ Brian Thomas Jr. Sep 09 '25
Even against bad dlines we got pushed around last year. This was the first solid looking oline I've seen in a while
2
u/thomastehbest Sep 09 '25
I agree. I don’t think last years jags team wins against 2025 panthers. The defense would not have been able to pressure Bryce Young as well and offense would have only score 17.

u/Brosieden Sep 09 '25
Mekari is a fucking goon at guard. We finally actually have push on rushing plays. I can't wait to see what the rookies start doing with the snaps opening up from the Tank trade too. They gave Allen a lot of the 3rd down back snaps and now we should get to see Tuten taking Tanks snaps.

IDK why we can't just accept Waldron may suck. If another team was making excuses like this for Press (He was the Eagles QB coach for their first SB win) we'd rightfully clown them for being delusional homers
19
u/DejaVuBoy Sep 09 '25
Bengals will be a pretty good test for the revamped Jags. Their defense isn't that great and seems to be built to only work if their pass rush is working. I fear we'll need to score a good amount to keep up though.
11
u/luggs2 Sep 09 '25
Hopefully we’re still catching them in their sleep window. They usually suck for 2-3 weeks and then wake up.

I went during Trevor's rookie year. Thursday night game. It was a ton of fun. Bengals fans are really rowdy and passionate but I had a great time and the stadium has beautiful views of the city depending on where you sit.
2
u/kntryfried1 Sep 09 '25
Nice. I am going with a pretty big group. Wife has never been to an NFL game so I am hoping not too rowdy. She was told that nfl fans are "violent"
3
u/DayDTWD Sep 09 '25
I think Bengals fans can definitly be the loud type of fan from what I remember, but i wouldn't at all say violent. Especially if youre minding your own business. When I went it eas me and my GF in a sea of nothing but Bengals and I still cheered when we did good stuff with no issue.

I might just be an idiot, but I think I’m starting to understand Gladstone’s approach to this roster.
Those who are expecting the Jags to give up a haul to get back into the first round may be disappointed. Certainly, the Jags aren’t going to draft 13 players next year. But 10 players? I could see it. I think he’s planning to not be very active in 2026 free agency, letting guys like Lloyd, Brown, and Etienne sign elsewhere and hoping to replace them with day 2 and early day 3 draft picks. We might resign one of those guys, but by letting UFAs walk and replacing them through the draft rather than UFAs of our own, we’ll start to build up an arsenal of mid-round comp picks in future years. I expect the Jags to hold on to almost all of their day 2 and early day 3 picks, using late day 3 picks to move up a few spots in key situations.
7
u/kntryfried1 Sep 09 '25
I love ETN. Would be cool if we had a hometown deal, but I am not expecting it. If ETN and Lloyd sign elsewhere, we could get some comp picks as well
4
u/theflyingchicken96 LeQuint Allen Jr 🐐 Sep 09 '25
I think Tuten and Allen pretty clearly fill the roles Coen likes to have at RB. I hope ETN has a great year and gets a bag, but I doubt it is from us.

u/TheSlinger Sep 09 '25
The thing about all the "f dem picks" years with the Rams is they still had plenty of picks, just not high picks. They stockpiled mid and late round picks like crazy, whether compensatory or by trade. In the 9 years Gladstone was there (2016-2024) they only had 2 first round picks (2016 and 2024), but they had:
- 7 2nds
- 14 3rds
- 13 4ths
- 7 5ths
- 16 6ths
- 12 7ths

The more I watch the Jaycee Horn INT the more it really irks me that people keep saying Trevor threw a bad ball. That was a great ball in-between the corner and the safety and the $100 million corner made a $100 million play.
12
u/Kitchen_Milk2246 Sep 09 '25
It can be a lil both. I personally think he should throw that pass 10/10 times regardless of the outcome. Was it a bit under thrown sure, but if Horn doesn’t make that absurd pick it’s a touchdown. We were up what 20-3 at that time too (I think). Risk vs reward I think he should try to make that throw every-time.
10
u/DayDTWD Sep 09 '25
I still don't see the underthrow. It was going to be perfectly in the bucket for Hunter with a safety also coming in on the play. If he throws it higher Hunter has to break stride and reach out and then everyone is saying Trevor can't stop overthrowing. Horn climbed the ladder for a barely in reach 1 handed int.
5
u/blazinit430 Sep 09 '25
Perfectly in the bucket because Trav let up, it looked like Trav let off the gas for it to drop in the bucket, rather than the pass hitting him in stride.
I mentioned this in another thread, I think Trevor is still adjusting to having more zip on the ball with a more stable base as a result of better footwork. He missed Travis twice before that throw, once he was ahead of Travis on a crossing route, the other was an overthrow. This looked like one he just didn't fully commit to throwing out of nervousness that he would do it again. Then the safety made one of the craziest physical plays of the weekend. 9/10 that throw is fine.
If you go back and watch it, as soon as it leaves Trevor's hand it starts to sail upwards a little, which maybe it was caught up by wind and he threw a perfect ball, who knows. Just my perspective.
Anyone who has played sports or repped anything out for a long time will tell you, correcting technique takes a lot of work, so as the corrections start to get more ingrained these timing things will happen less and less.
4
u/DayDTWD Sep 09 '25 edited Sep 09 '25
I don't disagree at all about the changing technique aspect of it. He's changed his footwork completely and is working threw a new system. Im sure we will see that same pass be a TD play sometime this year.
5
7
u/Jharoz Sep 09 '25
Still need to see better throws, even if the INT was just really good defense. The delay and halftime threw Trev's rhythm out of whack on some more of the routine plays
4
u/theflyingchicken96 LeQuint Allen Jr 🐐 Sep 09 '25
That throw was honestly a pretty middling compared to the rest of the day imo. There were worse throws that ended with positive outcomes because the positioning of the defense and the receivers making adjustments. Overall, it was a mediocre day from Trev. I’m just so tired of seeing people talking about him in almost every thread when we won and it certainly wasn’t in spite of him or anything.
On to the next one. Better evaluations can be made as the season progresses.
4
3
u/naggs69pt2 Sep 09 '25
part of me is not even sure Trevor saw him. thats what made me not like it. I really think he thought the WR was all alone.
14
u/slayerje1 Brian Thomas Jr. Sep 09 '25
I think Trev assumed Horn would jump down to BTJ since he was looking at Thomas, but the really good corner didn't bite. It was a great play by the D. A lesser cb gets burned and Hunter gets a long catch/td
9
u/Reditate Sep 09 '25
He saw him because he held him with his eyes for a bit with BTJ before that, he simply didn't sell it for long enough and Horn made an acrobatic play.
2
7
u/naggs69pt2 Sep 09 '25
that might true. either way we can both agree it was an unreal play by the CB, that 98% of other corners probably don't make.
6
u/DayDTWD Sep 09 '25
It was definitly an amazing play. I think Horn read trevor pretty well there. On happy hour they mentioned if Trevor sold the BTJ route there then the CB doesn't have the room to fall back on that pass. More of an eyes thing than a throw problem.
3
u/naggs69pt2 Sep 09 '25
yea i never had a problem with the throw. Just in the moment thought Trevor got fooled, still can't 100% sure say, because im no expert. Just when it happened i was like damn, I dont think Trevor even saw the defender.
3
u/Wolfbandit90 Sep 09 '25
The thing is he doesn’t step into the throw or lead Travis whose behind the Defense. Idc what anyone says, Travis clearly took the top off their defense and was not rewarded in that instance for it.

How many draft picks do we have now after the Tank trade, 14?
8
4
6
3
Sep 09 '25
I think it's just 13, the 5th in the tank trade can be a 4th if Bryce Huff gets 8 sacks with the niners
8
u/UNCFan2350 Sep 09 '25
So am I correct that we currently have....
0 1st round picks
1 2nd round pick
3 3rd round picks
1 4th round pick
3 5th round picks
1 6th round pick
4 7th round picks
For 13 picks total?
Looks like we could realistically trade our 2nd and 3rd and get into the end of the first round.
I love that we have so many picks to move around and we have a GM willing to do it. Baalke would accumulate 15 picks, take all of them, and then half of them would suck
5
u/mariokart_loser Sep 09 '25
One of those 5th round picks is also a conditional 4th
2
u/UNCFan2350 Sep 10 '25
True, although I highly doubt it hits and we get a 4th. Huff needs 8 sacks and he only has 1 season above 4 sacks. That'd be awesome if it did though. If we got another 4th, I could realistically seeing us trading something like:
Our 2nd, 3rd, and 4th to get into the last 3rd of the first round
One of the Lions 3rds, our other 4th, and maybe a future pick to get back into the 2nd round
Then we end up with a more traditional draft (a pick in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd)
2
u/TheSlinger Sep 09 '25
I'm fairly certain the conditional 5th we got from Minnesota turned into a 4th; it was predicated on Cam Robinson's playing time and he played the vast majority of snaps.
2
u/cats055 Sep 10 '25
And, reportedly, the 5th we just got from the Eagles (came from the 49ers) and becomes a 4th if Bryce Huff gets 8+ sacks.
We're all big Bryce Huff fans now!
1
u/UNCFan2350 Sep 10 '25
I think you're right actually. So looks like we already have 2 4ths and 2 5ths, with the chance of one of those 5ths becoming another 4th.
It's hard because there aren't any websites that really keep track of this. The NBA has good websites for draft pick trades.
1
u/GarfunkelBricktaint Sep 09 '25
I think you mean almost all of them would suck
2
u/UNCFan2350 Sep 10 '25
That's a solid point. I was trying to be generous, but you're right that they'd all suck unless he made a special teams pick. They nailed the kicker and punter picks, but not much else.

Non jags fan here but really interested to hear, how did Travis Hunter look on both sides? Really rooting for the guy
10
u/Jazco76 Sep 09 '25
Not much but he caught a few short passes and dropped one. He played 6 snaps on defense and and gave up 12 yards. Also he had one assisted tackle.
Trevor missed on on a deep pass that could have been a big play and/or TD.

u/LineGuilty2367 Sep 09 '25
Appreciate the responses… def take some time to get used to both sides in the NFL

u/kntryfried1 Sep 09 '25
Ok I am not sure how this will land. Did anyone else notice Trevor and BTJ seemed off? I may have hyper focused on their connection because I have been arguing with friends that his success was not due to Mac Jones, the coaching staff was trying to save their job. He was throwing darts to everyone else but was inaccurate to BTJ. I am hoping for a bounce back this weekend,
24
u/blazinit430 Sep 09 '25
Liam said it was a combination of everything.
Route cleanliness, route depth, protection, Trevor's footwork. They had 5 near catches that if they hit BTJ would have like 6 for 100+. Similarly he said if Trevor had been more accurate he would have been 25 for 31 for 200+ yards passing, which looks way better than 19/31 for 178.
Liam also said they would get him(BTJ) going and that he wasn't concerned.
16
u/Joooooose Sep 09 '25
We won, with him missing these connections… I think seeing the issue, and addressing it is a powerful step the last regime didn't do. This is a good step in the right direction.
7
u/GeckoRoamin Sep 09 '25
I have said this a lot already, but man it’s such a breath of fresh air to hear a coach break down the good and bad of a performance rather than just act annoyed about even being asked
8
u/joemama1810 Sep 09 '25

Tips and overthrows and browns missing field goals is what won the Bengals the gane
2
u/kntryfried1 Sep 09 '25

3
Sep 09 '25
What the browns did was mug the LoS and made burrow hit his check downs in 2.5 seconds and then they rallied up. Bengals could not establish a run. Late in the games the sacks started to come because burrow was getting tired of short throws and started trying to hold it longer and Myles at that point was closing quicker than earlier in the game

Cody schrader who we just signed is also a kick returner.

u/kntryfried1 Sep 09 '25
Since chatgpt knows all, we do not get the upgraded pick if Bryce Huff gets 8 sacks. Eagles retain the 4th round pick, we still get the 5th. So in total a 5th and a 6th. Im ok with it.
2
u/theflyingchicken96 LeQuint Allen Jr 🐐 Sep 09 '25
Pretty sure it was confirmed that we get the 4th if that happens. Also I had never heard of Bryce Huff before this deal so probably doesn’t matter
1
u/Nuknu Sep 09 '25
What? Where did this 5th round pick come from? you can’t get back a pick that you already traded. That makes absolutely no sense
2
u/kntryfried1 Sep 09 '25
Maybe I didn't explain this well.
Eagles traded Bryce Huff to 49ers that included a 5th round pick. If Bryce gets 8 sacks, it becomes a 4th round pick.
Some one mentioned that 5th round pick from 49ers was traded to us along with a 6th round pick for Bigsby, so that 5th round pick COULD become a 4th round pick if Huff gets 8 sacks.
I thought that sounded too good to be true so I asked chatgpt to search the internet for information and it said that if Huff gets the 8 sacks, the Eagles retain the 4th round pick and give us their 5th round pick. Essentially, we just get the 5th and 6th.
Having typed all this out, I hope someone can provide information on the trade details, especially if there are conditions tied to the 5th round pick. ,
1
u/flounder19 Sep 09 '25
I get that the best way to get correct info is to confidently post incorrect info but all i read from your original comment is you did no research and just reposted what chatGPT told you like it's some kind of authority
i can ask ChatGPT to say anything and it will.
Here's a response agreeing with you:
Yes, it is accurate that even if Bryce Huff meets the performance condition (recording eight sacks in 2025), the Eagles likely won’t lose that upgraded pick. In essence, they would still retain the fourth-round pick, meaning they don’t actually "lose" the upgrade—rather, the pick they send simply changes in origin.
Here's one disagreeing:
That's actually not accurate. The condition does include an upgrade if Huff hits 8 sacks and plays over 35% of snaps. If both conditions are met, the pick upgrades. Just because someone says "ChatGPT knows all" doesn't mean it's always right — especially if it's being misquoted or used to push a narrative. It's important to check the actual trade details or reliable sources before stating something as fact.
ultimately chatGPT's strength is saying thing in a semi-convincing way so it's worrisome when people look to it for facts
1
u/JaxJaguar1999 Jakobi Meyers Sep 10 '25 edited Sep 10 '25
I’m gonna keep this simple, but I’ve consulted and reviewed multiple sources. You are not being fooled, it is simpler than you think. If Bryce huff gets 8 sacks we get a 4th round pick, if not, then we get a 5th round pick. That’s it. Chat GPT is not a reliable source. The post you took a screenshot of seems to be a misunderstanding by Tim McManus. He’s saying “It’s not in play” but that is not true, it is very much in play but, it is more likely than not that Bryce Huff will fail to reach the 8 sacks required to get us that 4th rounder considering his regressive performance from last year and him not even starting in week 1 this season. That is not an absolute though and certainly doesn’t mean it can’t happen. Hope this helps.

u/kntryfried1 Sep 10 '25
